THE 99 Comes to Loganville, GA

A national theatre group will be visiting the Loganville, Georgia, area during September. This group will portray the reality of many of the ways that youths die each year. According to their website, "on average, 99 young people between the ages of 10 and 25 die every day in the United States. "THE 99" is a symbol based on statistics from the National Center for Disease Control." 31 die in automobile related accidents. 16 die from homicides or domestic violence. 12 will commit suicide. The remaining 40 will die from drug overdose, diseases, or accidents and natural causes.

"THE 99 is a walkthrough theater that graphically reenacts the five leading causes of death in teenagers and young adults. Many of these deaths are influenced by drugs or alcohol and a vast majority of them can be avoided."

The walkthrough takes place in a 20,000 sq ft tent, and should take approximately 45 minutes to complete. You will travel through several rooms learning how these deaths come about and what can be done to prevent you from succombing to the same fate. Tickets are $8.00, but at the end of the tour, you will be given a survey on what has impacted you the most. Handing that in will get you a free ticket so you can share the experience with someone you know.

THE 99 will be located at the Oasis Church on Hwy 81S in Loganville, Georgia, throughout September. It will be open every Friday through Sunday, September 4-20, from 7am to 11pm.
